The CVS version of WineX is different from the packaged version that you get if you subscribe to Transgaming. So which one are you trying to install? Sounds like the subscriber version (which is now called Cedega, WineX is a thing of the past).

Basically, sign into Transgaming, download the rpm, install it with:

# rpm -ivh package.rpm

and then execute 'cedega' to start the setup script.

For more involved help, checkout www.transgaming.com and the forums section there.

sounds like CVS to me since he said CVS.

Here's the scoop if you haven't read it elsewhere.

First of all, as SoulSe said, there is no winex. It now called cedega. The second thing you need to know is that there are two VERY different versions. The first, the CVS you're trying to install is what you might call cripple-ware. It does not deal well with CD copy protection and it does not deal with direct 3d uch better than wine. And best of all, it's a bitch to install.

The other version is what subscribers like me have access to. For $5.00 a month you get access to the member downlaod area where you can get pre-compiled, ready to install, packages of cedega that include support for all those important extras and install in a snap.

Andeh, you are definately better off paying $5 and subscribing to Cedega (WineX). If you are intending to run the CVS version of Cedega you may as well just run Wine instead as Wine is much better than the CVS version of Cedega. If you want to play Windows games that use DirectX though you may as well subscribe, not only are you getting a MUCH better product, you are helping assure that future versions of Cedega are produced by supporting the community. Same reason you should join MandrakeClub if you use MDK as your operating system.
