Mandrake is acting funny

Got my first funny stuff happening since moving to MDK 10.0 CE (about a week ago).

Yesterday, I noticed that 10 to 15 min after stopping Overnet, My connection was really dragging butt. I took a look at it in MCC's "monitor connections" (neat addition to 10.0) and noticed that my outgoing was 20 and 30 times my incoming (40 kbps avg. to 2.5 kbps avg.) I'm using an ADSL connection.

I opened my firewall completely with no change. There didn't appear to be any processes running that would have affected my connection. Now, I'm still a relatively new Linux user, so I'm sure there are a lot of things that I can check. I would be gratefull if someone could give me some Ideas.

Also, I logged out of Linux to print something in Windows (Still haven't got that Lexmark Z705 working yet) and when I re entered Mandrake, everything was back to normal. So I gave it another try. Overnet worked fine, but the same problem occured. So I thought, "let me log out and back in, and see what happens.

That brings up the other funny thing. When I logged out, my screen flickered and It was cut in half. Actually it was more like the screen had dropped down half way on my monitor. Black across the top half and normal on the bottom half. When I logged back in (fortunately the log in line was still visible) I could see the screen, but the resolution looked like 600X400. I checked my settings, and they were correct. So I thought just for "grinns" I'll change it and then change back. Everything returned to normal. I haven't been able to reproduce that glitch.

So, If anyone has any Ideas as to what might have been happening, I would really appreciate your help.
