KDE Programs open slowly when connected to net

Hi

I posted a previous problemHere but I've since worked out what the actual problem is.

I've just installed Mandrake 10.0 and am using KDE 3.2 and eveything works fine, except when I'm connected to the internet. When I'm connected KDE programs suddenly takes 10 times as long to open. It doesn't matter how I launch them, i.e via konsole, eterm, icon or clicking on the relevant file.

I connect via dialup using kppp. Other programs such as xine and openoffice work fine, as does gnucash, but all KDE programs and totem are horribly slow. Are there any suggestions why this might be and how to fix it.

Thanks

Do without KDE, sacrilege!!

I wouldn't mind myself so much, but my non-computer savvy partner also uses linux (she wanted to see what I was so obsessed about ;) and KDE is what she is used to.

But anyway, the advice given above was correct, I downloaded the updates (over my dial up) and the problem is fixed. It was drakextools that needed to be updated.

Now almost everything is working, the only thing not working right is xine, but I see there is an update for that available,so I'll give that a try.
