ok. i downloaded gcc 3.4.2 and i try to install it and i get the error:
[root@localhost gcc-3.4.2]# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu

checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
./configure: line 2332: cc: command not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.
what should I do!! also i looked in the /usr/lib/gcc folder and it has 3.4.1 but theres only one file in there: cc1 and when i try to open that (tried with su) nothing happens. im super frustrated, someone help
*edit* ah i did "urpmi gcc" as root and it installed into that gcc 3.4.1 folder i was talking about, so i think it should be all good now...

okay, just tried it, it was already checked to start on boot and was running, went to konsole and got:
