  1. I just want to let you guys know that over at the fluxbox forum they're being talking about shuting down the system from Fluxbox. They are a few ideas of commands you can use. This is the link to the discussion. Javi
  2. Is this possible. I mean complitely turn "OFF" the machine, cause at this moment if I'm working on Fluxbox and I want to shutdown the system I have to switch back to KDE so I can use the "logout" command. I will like to know if you can create a script that calls the Mandrake logout sequence or something in that line. Any ideas are welcome, I'm hungry to learn my way's around linux, Javi
  3. Hey Luis101, I found how to move the Eterm screen and position it where ever you want. This is how the command for Eterm loks like in my startup file; If you see the command I post, you have to add this to the original line --geometry=WidthxHeigth+Xcoordinate+Ycoordinate , For the coordinates if you type -X Top Left +X Top Right -Y Bottom Left +Y Bottom Right Hopefully this work for your. Cheeers... Javi :D
  4. Hi members, I just one to let everybody know what was the problem with gDesklets not starting automatically when I login on my Fluxbox system. I posted before a sample of the startup file in my system; which by the way I have to thank Luis101 for it; that Fluxbox wasn't utilizing. Happens that when I create the file, I never change the permissions to make the file executable ( chmod u+x startup ) also I added the line LiquidZoo mention in one of the replies, (#!/bin/sh) at the begining of the file . Now when I log in Fluxbox the weather desklets, gdeskcal and Eterm start automatically. I only have one little question, I don't like the position where Eterm is appearing on my screen. Can I move it to a different area and does Eterm remembers that position, so when I login the next time is going to show up in the position a located to. Javi
  5. Can you tell me Luis101 or iphitus or Spiedra, what this piece of information means; This is posted on the Fluxbox website, under the "Fluxbox Develelopment Release FAQ. I was runing Fluxbox V 0.9.8 before I read this, so I went ahead and install the development version 0.9.9 in my system. What is your interpretation of ~/.fluxbox/apps, is it that "apps" file the same "startup file", that we all being talking about. Or this is something new and also look the way the start all the applications. Or I'm complitely confuse, I need your comments guy's, please. Javi
  6. I did it iphitus, but still doesn't work. Javi PS. Do you guys know where can I find this wallpaper, I like it a lot.
  7. Hi members; Can anyone in here help me understand this: It looks very similar to the Fluxbox startup file sample I posted in the previous post But there are some differences, I will like to understand some of the lines in that script; Are they command lines that would work for anybody or it's unique. Javi
  8. Hi guys ones again; I'm still having the problem even after I did the change you suggest. Fluxbox doesn't start the weather desklets automatically. When I open Eterm and type gdesklets the weather desklets appear find with no n/a problem now but if I close the Eterm session the weather desklets disapear from the window. I did some search about startup file for Fluxbox and find this link that talks about it. Then I went to this directory in my system /etc/X11/wmsessioon.d/ and found the file call "16fluxbox" then I open it with kwrite to see the content; After seeing this I went to this directory " /usr/X11R6/bin/ ", and found the " startfluxbox " script in there, so I open it to see how it looks like and this is what I found; Can you tell me if there is an error here that is preventing fluxbox from using the startup file I created it in this directory " /home/jmr0311/.fluxbox/. Thanks Javi
  9. Thank you Spiedra and Luis101 for your information. What I did was what Spiedra said about creating a directory in user mode and untar the file in there. Ones I did that, everything start working perfect again. But I have two problems still; 1- I still can get gDesklets to run automatically when I go to Fluxbox and display the desklets of weather. If I open Eterm terminal and type " gdesklets ", then the weather Desklets appears. (This is copy of my startup file on the ~/.fluxbox/ directory;) 2- On the Desklets of Good Weather Display, the first day of the forecast shows as high temperature the word " N/A ". How can I fixed that ? What you guys think is the problem with my configuration. I install a few more applications in Fluxbox like idesk, Rox, gDeskcal, etc. but they dont startup either. Javi
  10. What can I do iphitus to have this package let me do the install and also to get gDesklets working ones again. Or do you think I should remove it from my computer and re-install it again. Javi
  11. This is what Kconsole looks like when I try to untar the GoodWeather package on a different directory. It's denying me the permission of performing that task. Why is that happening ? any ideas... Javi
  12. Can anyone tell me how to remove gDesklets program complitely from my computer. I'm so confuse that I don't want to fight it anymore. I install several packages ( eg. rpm, src, urpmi, etc ) in my desperates attempt to make it worked. I'm tired of seing the windows of errors showing on my desktop when I'm trying to run Desklets. I just want to do a clean install from URPMI and see how that work, but first I want wipe out any traces of gdesklets. Please help me...!!! . Javi
  13. I'm getting this error : Could not load sensor 'FontSelector' An error occured while loading a sensor. This most likely means that the sensor is broken or simply not installed. and also this one ; Invalid display file '/home/jmr0311/.gdesklets/Displays/GoodWeather/GoodWeather.display' The display file contains invalid data and could not be loaded. Javi
  14. I'm doing as you mention Steve but I'm getting an error that says; When I was trying to get Gdesklets to install in my machine, I download so many different files ( rpm, tar, src, URPMI ) and install them in a desperation to try to solve my problem. But now I think because of all that gDesklets is having hard time finding the files. Do you guys agree with me ? I was thinking to complitelly remove gDesklets from my system and then re-install it from URPMI only. Maybe doing it this way will solve some or all of my problems. When I install the sensor I gets this window; But when I do the display part is when I get the error. Javi
  15. I'm almost giving up at this point. I try that command in terminal but notthing happen. Does anybody know in the startup Fluxbox file, when you have this command in that file What this command is executing, lets say the file and the location of the file that is being executed. I want to understand what ny problem is. Javi
  16. This is a snap shot of my terminal screen after I run the command you said; When I go to Fluxbox, the gDesklets doesn't start automtically, so I went to Eterm and type gdesklets and a little window pop-up of an error that I can't remember. Then I found in the menu of Fluxbox under system-monitoring, I found an entry call Gdesklets so I click on it and when I did that my Weather Desklet show up on the screen. Javi
  17. I follow your instructions to the T, but I think is not working for me. I have exactly what you just quote as an example of your startup file in my ~/.fluxbox/ directory. When I login in Fluxbox I'm expecting to see the WeatherDisplay desklets to appear but nothing happen, nothing shows up. What do you think I'm doing wrong ? Javi
  18. Thank you ones again Luis 101, I download the one you toll me and it worked perfect. Now, how can I make the Desklets to show up when I go in to my Fluxbox. I'm not to sure if my startup file is working, How can I test that, to see if is working ? Do you have to change anything in your " init " file to point to the startup file. Javi :D
  19. Can you tell me the link to download it. Please Javi
  20. Hi Luis101, I was trying to install one of the weather sensor. I read that you need to pieces to install Desklets. Ones is the sensor and the other one is the display. Lets say that I want to use the weather display GoodWeather-psi, according to their website this desklets is only a display with no sensor so I download another weather desklets that include the sensor like psi-weather and I try to use this sensor with the other display that's when I get the error explain below. Can I do this ? . Everything goes as expected, it give me the window that says that the sensor was install successfully. But when I'm tried to do the next step: Then I do this in command line; But it give me an error that says ; Could not add display " The display could not be added because the file doesn't exist " When I do this combination of sensor and display I get the error. Javi
  21. I did use MDK Control Center and did a search for gDesklets. I got some hits and I went ahead and installed them. I think, out of the three different type of installation I was trying to do, this one appears to be the only one gone well. Also I found this file in the internet " gdesklets-0.26.2-1.dag.src.rpm " and I run it too. When I do the urpmi thing in console this is what I get; Javi
  22. Hi guys, Something really strange happen. After being fighting for the last couple weeks trying to get gDeklets to install in my system. I did in terminal this " locate gdesklets " and to my surprise it came back with a whole bunch of hits. Like this ones; And I also found some in this directories; What all this hits means ?, That some how the gDesklets install was successfull after all. Now how can I start building this little eye catching icons to make my Fluxbox a better please to be. Javi :o
  23. Hi devries, I just want to Thank you for hanging in there with me through all this trouble with mplayerplug-in. I did as you said and then re-install everything back again and now is working perfect. Javi
  24. Thank you ones again and by the way, thats a kick **s movie. Javi
  25. I have mplayerplug-in installed in my Firerfox browser at this moment but the screen don't show the control buttons. I'm almost positive that i did the make as user not as root. I did the install without including this --enable-gtk1 line in the command of ./configure. And I think that is my problem, that's why I'm trying to remove mplayerplug-in and do the installation again using the proper command line. Javi
