I wanted to change the boot order and delete some things from the boot list. I went into /etc/lilo.conf and rearranged the order but that didn't do anything. neither did changing the default label from "linux" to "windows". also, how do you "run" lilo after you configure the file? thanks :)

then I tried downloading the rpm's, and the installer saidthe signature was bad. I tried to install anyways, and nothing happened, no error messages, the box just disappeared.. so who knows what it did.

or is MDK 10 starting to remind anyone of WinXP? I guess not really, but I could have gone with out the 5 popups from Mandrake when I first installed. (a survey, asking me to register, etc) I guess I should just be happy there are no balloon bubbles, dancing paperclips, or the OS warning me about viewing contents of a folder
and the default fonts are a lot nicer than mdk 9!

Better upgrade to Mandrake 9.1+ or even 10, because it has GTK-2.x + freetype2 + fontconfig library installed by default.
Yea, I think that's what I'll do. :)
Thanks.

So, I had Firefox running fine, only the fonts were atrocious. I read somewhere that I should have gotten the "-gtk2+xft " version, so I downloaded that and untarred it (is that what you call it..im a n00b!)
Anyways, it didn't work:
[laura@localhost firefox]$ ./firefox
./firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libXft.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and then I read the readme: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...gtk2-xft.readme
that says This build required that the GTK+v2, Xft and FontConfig libraries are installed.
Now, I followed the advice of someone else in another forum and typed "rpm -qa" to see all available packages that I have on my system. I saw a couple that resembled gtk-2.0 in some form, but nothing about Xft or FontConfig.
I went to the FontConfig.org website and downloaded the tar file. It said I needed FreeType when I tried to install, so I downloaded and installed that. Now, when I go back to try and install FontConfig, I get this error message during the ./configure part:
configure: error: Cannot find usable expat library. This could mean that your version is too old.
my version of what?
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks for helpin a n00b out :)

I tried doing a search on the forum, but K3b is less than 4 characters :(
Anyways, on the Mandrakelinux.com website it says that K3b is available. I can't find it anywhere. rpmdrake doesn't find it either :/ Can someone point me in the right direction?
