Sound Card is a Audigy 1 In the KDE desktop configuration menu, under Sound/Sound System, make sure you have the Sound server enabled (enable Sound System checked) Apply settings, and now start et like this: In Console type: artsdsp -m et this will start et, and worked for me to get sound. I now have delayed sound, which some people were able to fix by turning off/on the Full Duplex function in the Sound System manager of KDE
