  1. Hi Thanks for the welcome and help ! I've chosen what I think is a stable source ( ftp.sunet ), sync'ed or not, is there any way to tell ? By the way I'm using KDE. ------------------------------ Update problems : Experimented with System->Configuration->Other->LocaleDrake( System ) I've updated through Media Manager like this : 1) Remove every entry in the Media Manager list. 2) Then add 'Official_updates' then add 'Distribution Sources'. Now I have these 7 entries:in Media Manager - update_source - main - main_updates - Main (Official2007.0-1) - Main Updates (Official2007.0-2) - Contrib (Official2007.0-3) - Contrib Updates (Official2007.0-4) This seems to work. Any comments , do I need PLF ? --------------------------------- JAVA/JRE problems : It seems that this is the way it is. When I searched for the problem, I found that I'm not the only one with this problem. Have to manually install the java package. Thanks for the link arctic. There are many uninstalled ”java” packages, but I can't find any specific package that I think is ”the one” I need. -------------------------------- Offtopic : Shouldn't these java packages get installed when I choose to install a database ? When I run the easy urpmi, it sets up the list that I'll get when I run Media Manager -> Add ? Comments ? //
  2. Hi This is my first post and of course a few questions. Found this forum a lot easier to access than the official site. Strangley they haven't any info about this site on mandriva.org !? I got this link from another forum. Installed Mandriva 2007 i586,no big problems. Updated bugs and security patches with MandrivaUpdate. Everything works Ok until I tried OpenOffice.org Database. I couldn't get Openoffice, org database to create a database it reported "OpenOffice.org requires a java runtime environment" Used MandrivaUpdate to search for a jre package, but I didn't find any . Then I made 'the mistake' of trying easyurpmi. Executed the commands, everything went OK, but when I start MandrivaUpdate I get this error "A fatal error has occured: It's impossible to retrive the list of new packages from the media 'contrib_updates'...." My guess is that when easyurpmi says that you should remove the media(urpmi.removemedia -a ) is where the trouble starts. Question 1: How can I either restore the updates to the old setup or get it working with the new setup ? Question 2 : How can I get OpenOffice.org database to work( install a JRE package ?). Thankful for any help //
