    scim help

I had just noticed this morning that scim no longer starts when I log in. (in mandriva 2006 I didn't have this problem, but when I installed 2007, I didn't check if scim was working properly until this morning...) also when I try running scim -d, I get the scim icon in the notifications area, but I can't use ctrl+space to start scim in any program. my local is english utf-8. locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL= when I run export I get this: declare -x XMODIFIERS="@im=none" i think it should say scim or something...

    rpm backups on CD

just wondering, if I wanted to make an offline copy of the urpmi update sources (main and contrib) how much hd space would that take up?
  3. I was checking out the mandriva club, to see if it's something I'd try and I saw this: Members of the Mandriva Club who do not pay a fee are entitled the "Aluminium" membership for as long as they keep visiting the site regularly. This membership does not offer much in terms of priviledges, but it is still more convenient than being anonymous. Of course, Aluminium members can "upgrade" their membership level any time they want to. http://club.mandriva.com/xwiki/bin/view/Ma...in2Badvance253F so does this mean that if I sign up, without paying for a standard subscription, I can still download the commercial drivers or access the mandriva club ftp server? 4. I notice in the media manager, I can add custom rpm sources, such as local drives or removable drives. If I downlaod some rpms and burn them to a cd, do I need to make any other modifications to have them as a usable source, such as a list file md5 sum file that contains the md5sums of all the rpms...? 5. Ok, I got so far as adding /dev/sda /mnt/usbdrive auto users 0 0 to the fstab, but when I try to mount I get this error: mount /dev/sda mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so then running dmesg I get this: FAT: invalid media value (0x01) VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sda. FAT: invalid media value (0x01) VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sda. this usbdrive works fine on windows and on mandriva 2006...
  6. Well, I tried updating 2006 from the net, but without luck, so I downloaded the 2007 dvd. but after selecting a fresh install (formatted the / directory, but left /home intact), this time I changed the security level to "higher" but now if I plug in the usb pen drive, it dosen't automount. how can I get the automount back?
  7. Thanks for the welcome! So how exactly can I do this via the net... do I change something with urpmi?
  8. I have been using mandriva 2006.0 but I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to 2007 from the internet, without downloading and burning an iso. [moved from Forum Discussion by spinynorman - welcome aboard :)]
