it used to be ~/.serious
now it's ~/.serious/serioussam for TFE
and ~/.serious/serioussamMP for TSE
-
Relic2k, see README-beta3 for where to move your old configurations to.
-
heh
Yeah, there's already an installer for both TFE and TSE.
-
-
du -hs ut2003lnx_epicbonusone.sh.bin
136M ut2003lnx_epicbonusone.sh.bin
:)
much better than this shell script installer for the windows version
-
There's only 4 things to do for StrikeForce:
Get the data and remove the useless stuff - StrikeForce.exe and the splash screen in Help/
Create the Linux ini (Remove D3DDrv, Galaxy, WinDrv and SoftDrv. Add in SDLDrv, SDLGLDrv, Audio, ALAudio and SDLSoftDrv sections)
Create the launch script (use the ut script and change it to this ./ut-bin -ini=StrikeForce.ini -userini=SFUser.ini)
Convert the icon to xpm format for the KDE/Gnome shortcuts.
That's basically what I'm doing for Spatial Fear: Prologue v1.2
I don't think anyone would make any half-life installers because it's not a linux game.

How much coding know how does it take to create these installers ?
None. All I have is a build box (modified Redhat 6.0) to create the setup binary. I have most of the Loki games and some other games which use loki_setup and have just looked at them, the sample setup.xml file and read the README.xml file which has everything you need to know about creating an installer.
-
waiting for it to be mirrored now
hmm... just noticed it's called Epic Bonus Pack One
-
I'm waiting for beyondunreal to place it in their download system, which will be mirrored locally, then I can download it for free and at 400kb/s :)
-
you could edit /usr/local/games/ut2003/.manifest/ut2003.xml and change version to 2199 in the 3rd line.
I have no idea how this will affect the next version of ut2003, but it will stop loki_update thinking ut2003 needs to be updated to 2199.
-
he doesn't need install instructions, and yes all of the files are packed inside one big Setup.exe file :(
ravage@slacker:~$ du -hs /mnt/cdrom/Setup/Setup.exe
631M /mnt/cdrom/Setup/Setup.exe
-
use the full 1.0.13 installer:
-
what version are you running? 1.0.13 was the last released version by Loki. I built loki_update from cvs to get rid of that gtk mismatch thing and get it to use my gtk+ theme :)
-
no, its something to do with your glibc version
if you edit update.sh and comment out this around line 56
# Verify that the loki_patch version is okay
if loki_patch --verify patch.dat; then
:
else
exit 1
fi
then the update will apply.
-
that is not how you use loki_patch
you have to run the update with --keep
ie. ./ut2003lnx_full2126.sh.bin --keep
cancel the update, cd to ut2003lnx_full2126 or whatever the new directory is called and copy the loki_update binary to bin/Linux/x86/ and then run update.sh
-
What I find weird is that the actual setup.sh scripts for the linux games will install without any hitches, but when I go to manually patch the games, then it craps out on me.
loki_setup and loki_update are seperate applications.
http://icculus.org/~msphil/loki/x86/loki_patch
try that loki_patch binary

http://icculus.org/~ravage/freespace/root.vp.tar.bz2
cbf updating it with this file yet, so there's the patched version.
PROMO.EXE looks curious though, perhaps you have some promotional copy...
The installer doesn't support the GOTY edition of FreeSpace 2, or any of the non-english versions (which I sould assume means the North American release). I assume the data files are just a little bit off...We are talking about Freespace 1 here, but that still applies anyway. By non-english, I meant German, French, etc...
-
I guess this is just the state of the port,... or is there something I'm missing???
No idea. We shall see what happens when Freespace 2 hits release status :)
So, does this mean that my FreeSpace CDs are out of date or something strange?Maybe you have a different region CD? My CD is the USA version. What does it say on the bottom of your box?
-
does this md5sum match root.vp on your cd?
a12621b5e8fbfca2b88e983fb5a79a90 *./root.vp
edit: n/m, I just looked at the buffer in irc. I'll just add root.vp to the installer since it's a small file.
-
I won't know if it's possible until I buy Neverwinter Nights, which won't be until after they release the client.
-
My Freespace installer has been updated. Preferences and Pilot data are now stored in ~/.freespace/ and it will now default to fullscreen mode.
Freespace 2 has been updated also.
-
how can you use telecom jetstart ... I hate telecom at least johnnyv is an ihug user
eh? ihug is still going?
I've never had any problems with Telecom, or xtra.
-
wtf? are you from NZ?
And yes thats where i got it.
Yep. I was looking at getting it off ebay or amazon but I found it there at The Warehouse :)
the latest FS2 CVS adds userdir support ($HOME/.freespace2/). The latest FS1 patch has this also but uses .freespace
That is cool... So I take it that the version in your installer uses an older FS2 CVS snapshot? Your page mentions that you're gonna make a newer installer sometime. Can you post a message here when you do? Pretty please, with a cherry on top? Thanks dude!
Yes, it was from built from cvs on 24th December 2002. The only real change I know of since then is the userdir support. I'm trying to build a binary now for both FS1 and FS2 from current cvs. I'll try to remember to post when it's done.

Ok, I DL'd the installer, ran it. When I first tried to run freespace I got an error in that the openal libraries weren't installed. So installed the ones from the Mandrake CDs. Now I try to run freespace and get nothing...
Using Mandrake 8.2...
Any suggestions???
does mandrake use a recent OpenAL?
Any idea how to get it to run at fullscreen and/or a higher resolution?to run in fullscreen, set Fullscreen=1 in FreeSpace.ini
I don't think it's possible to play in anything higher than 640x480.
Well, I created a user with my login name by duping the root.vp file, then I had to change the permissions of the entire contents of the /usr/local/games/freespace subdirectory to the user name I would be running under... then it works...Apparently, this game does not differentiate between multiple users. It's a one user only game.

hey i have been looking for the installer as i found freespace 1 and it's expansion in a store for like almost nothing$9.95 @ The Warehouse?
