PPPD with Mand. 9.2

Does anyone know if PPPD is installed with mandrake 9.2 ?? I need it to get my internet connection working, and when I downloaded it and tried to install it I kept getting errors during the make, but I think thats because I dont have gcc installed. Anyone know?

Sure is. Open a terminal and do

rpm -q ppp

 

or search for ppp in the Software Mgr. As root you could also do

urpmi ppp

in a terminal to install if it's not.

Is there a gui front end to the pppd client or are all connections to be made through a command line?

Well.. kppp is the easiest to use, at least for me. It is not installed by default (which is a stupid decision by mandrake imo), but it's available in your installation disks. To install it, just type this command as root

urpmi kdenetwork-kppp

 

Or use mandrake control center -> software -> software -> install software and search for kppp

It seems I made a slight mistake in the function I was shooting for, I require a front end to create pptp connections to a MS vpn server. Any ideas? I've seen a few items online about rh9 but nothing concerning mdk.
