TopDog
Hi everyone. I'm addicted to MSN, and used Kopete before, I just reinstalled my PC with mdk9.2 and found that the .rpm for Kopete doesn't work, so I thought that I'd might try another IM-app. What do you guys think? mtweidmann
Kopete is the best, at least in my opinion. If you download the latest rpm from the Club testing site (or other source) the problem with MSN has been fixed.
TopDog
If you download the latest rpm from the Club testing site Club testing site... you mean Mandrake Club? I've been thinking about joining, is there any reason to go for anything else but "Standard member"? Sorry for going off-topic in my own topic
Qchem
does xchat count?? I seriously prefer IRC to IM
SoulSe
I use Gaim and I really like it. I also use Xchat for IRC. I have never used kopete, does it support multiple protocols at once, like Gaim?
mtweidmann
The club organises volunteers to build rpms of popular apps, the results are then made available to everyone (member or not). You can find the Club Contribs on most mirrors: ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/sunsite.uio....ed/MandrakeClub But I think the rpms that are still in the testing stages are not pubically available, sorry. Gowator
I used to use kopete but I found GAIM quicker to respond to changes in protcol by msn etc. Both are fine messengers.
lil gorsebush penguin
i used to have Kopete but it stopped working mid-october when msn redid a bunc of stuff (which i am not qualified to explain seeing i do'nt really understand the whole thing - see "noobie" next to my name...) but now i use GAIM which is fine except that i can't receive or send files... Peet@Mandrake
I use kopete 0 7.4 in mandy 9.2 ftp://mandrake.contactel.cz/people/bluehawk/9.2/RPMS/
iphitus
I used Kopete but it was unstable -- and i realised it was the only KDE/QT app left on my system so i rmeoved it and KDE. I use irssi for IRC and I will occasionaly use aMSN when i need to do file transfer. WHo here has tried Everybuddy? Any good? sud_crow
I use LICQ (www.licq.org), its just an ICQ messager, could pass as a clone i guess. From time to time, when chicks require it, i use aMSN, but not very frecuently... Anyway, i would use Gaim, as i did since the beggining but for some reason stoped working and i cant find whats the problem... it just freezes since version .71 to .73 (actual) havent tryed an older coz they dont support msn, so there is no use in having a multi protocol client when i cant use mp. tyme
gaim for IM, xchat for IRC, ain't no better combination!
Lostman
Is the stock Gaim that comes with 9.2 set up for the new MSN protacal? Also, I thought Gaim only did AOL? Guess I was wrong. I've been using AMSN and it's been working fine, but I'd like to be able to use AOL and Yahoo! also. Kind of miss Trillian.
tyme
Is the stock Gaim that comes with 9.2 set up for the new MSN protacal? no, i don't believe it's setup for the MSN9 protocol. but then again i recompiled the new one anyways since it has a lot of bugfixes. although there may be a 0.72 RPM hiding somewhere. Guest timelord
If you only want MSN, KMess works pretty well. Personally, I would like to convince people to get away from M$N, and use ICQ or Jabber.
