Where, O where, are my KDE screensavers?

The screensavers are part of the kdeartwork package (on your install cd's), they are not installed per default:

# urpmi kdeartwork

But even after the installation they won't work: screensaver bug in MDK 9.2.

You have two options:

- run mandrakeupdate, i.e.: install the official updates from a ftp update mirror (the kde packages are important if I am not mistaken)

- there is a solution to manually fix it, but I only recommend to do this if you do NOT plan to update your system

Make sure you have a fast i-net connection, the updates are > 100 MB

In KDE: K -->Configuration/Settings (or similiar in your language) -->Configure your computer

Choose: Software Management (or similiar..) in the left window

(here you can also install, uninstall software - with a GUI)

Window on the right: MandrakeUpdate

You have to choose a ftp mirror from a list ...

You can also go around the problem by going to the command line and entering xscreensaver. ..and following the instructions to install them. Personally I think they are better than the KDE screensavers....I especially like 'compass'. :D

What is the manual way? I don't have broadband :(

I'm having the exact same problems.
