Ok, back when I was in Windows, I used to have Nero for cd burning. I have found programs in Linux that I like just as much or more, but there is one feature that I really liked in Nero that I can't seem to find.

The feature I'm looking for is the ability to split one large track into several smaller ones. I want to be able to do this for data cd's too, so maybe this isn't a cd burning question at all.

Is there a feature in one of the cd burning apps that I haven't found that will enable me to do this? If not, does anyone know a program that is out there that will let me split, say, 1 137MB file into 27 5MB files or something like that?

For the purpose of what exactly? Why would you want to split the file up in the first place? I could possibly see the point if the file was, say, 900megs in size and you wanted to split it across two CD's. However, I have always found this to be a function of archiving software and not of cd burning software.

fuzzy - The purpose in Nero was for audio cd's. It would split one big file (like a comedy recording for example) into smaller tracks. I want to do the same thing, but for a data (mp3) cd.

richard - I will look into that program. That might be close to what I'm looking for.

That makes sense. Another option is to use audio editing software. I realize it is probably a little advanced and definitely more cumbersome then what you are looking for, but...

Here are two products that might be worth checking out:

Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Rezound - http://rezound.sourceforge.net/
