Guest MichaelB
Hello all, I'm having a hard time finding a vendor who sells a reasonably priced laptop with a 17+ display with a minimum of 1920x1200 resolution. They seemed to be easy to find a year or year and a half ago, but not now that my ancient laptop died (4+ years old, resolution: 14??x1050). I've been using Mandriva since Mandrake 9.0 on Dells, but Dell no longer sells a 17 inch 1920x1200 unless you 'upgrade' to their hardcore alienware machines. Gateway a year ago or so used to make a FX ??? that had 1920 x 1200, but word on the street was the hardware was buggy with Mandriva. Wish list: Screen: 17+ inches preferably non-shiny Resolution: min 1920 x 1200 (absolute min: 1400 x 1050) (Widescreen WUXGA better, and WQXGA (2560x1600) would be a dream) Processor: Core 2 Duo (Core 2 Quad better) Anyone know of a laptop maker that sells these? And anyone know if Mandriva 2009.1 will install on them? Worst case, anyone know of an older model that I can get off ebay or craigslist? Thanks, Michael
Guest MichaelB
Well, I'd bump this, but it's still at the top :( Alternatively, anyone know of another forum to post this question in? Thanks, Michael
tux99
maybe here: http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73 not a Linux forum, but it's a hardware forum which is very busy so someone might know an answer to your question
Jza
I got a Dell Inspiron 17R I wonder if this has to do with the specs you are looking for.
