How did you switch to wget? I have the same problem... cannot download a list from PLF, though I was able to install kde3 packages from other media just fine.

From MCC -> Configure media sources -> Options -> Global options -> Download program to use

I am still getting the error

(1) Using MCC -> Configure media sources for install and update -> File -> Add a custom media -> Type: HTTP server, Medium name: PLF, Medium Path: http://plf.zarb.org/mirrors/2009.1.i586.list, Ok:

Unable to add medium, errors reported:

...retrieving failed: wget failed: exited with 1
no metadata found for medium "PLF"

(2) As root, from the terminal:

# urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist 'http://plf.zarb.org/mirrors/2009.1.i586.list'
mirror list not found
...retrieving failed:
unable to access the distribution medium (no media.cfg file found)
unable to add medium

Edit: Fixed it... It was something to do with proxies....
