Guest clingse Posted October 31, 2003 Share Posted October 31, 2003 I have installed MDK 9.1 on my NEC LaVie C LC500/3 labtop. However I have a number of problems that I can not figure out how to fix. 1: Rainbow fonts: When using anti-aliasing I get fonts with rainbow shadows. I have tried all the settings for hinting under GNOME but none of the settings entirely removes the rainbow shadows. 2: When I switch to TV-out everything looks fine at first, but as soon as I move the mouse the screen becomes inverted and very very bright, and can not be adjusted back to acceptable settings. When switching back to LCD again it look fine at first, but again as soon as the mouse is being moved the screen becomes very bright, but not inverted. The same happens if I switch to console and back to X. The graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon M6 and I'm using GATOS radeon driver. I have no special settings in the XF86Config-4 and use the one auto generated at instalation. I have tried to change the refresh rates a little up and down, but really I have not idea what they should be. 3. When I do a warm reboot, linux seems to shut down completely, but the computer just turns on the fan at full speed and do not restart. A halt correctly shutsdown the computer. I have tried both the "reboot" script, "shutdown now -r -f" and "shutdown -r -F" but neither works. I'll gladly post any other information you think neccessary. DragonMage Posted October 31, 2003 Share Posted October 31, 2003 I don't know about the rainbow font problem.. but about the shutdown thingie.. have you tried enabling ACPI? My toshiba cannot shutdown properly (have to use the power button to turn it off) until I enable ACPI. Of course, in 9.1 there is a bug in kernel 2.4.21 and below that causes keventd to take 100% cpu power when ACPI is turned on. The solution is to edit one of the file in the kernel source (forgot which one) and recompiling the kernel. Try it maybe it works. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
