NelsonN
After installing Mandrake 9.2 I have come across several problems. The one that I can't seem to get rid of now is a font problem that only happens to the root user when logged in with KDE. If I login with GNome everything is fine. I don't know if this problem started before or after I added Windows fonts as I don't login to the root account on a regular basis. When I click on the Home link the Konqueror window shows the file and folder names in the "Beast War" font in very large type. It's very hard to navigate the file system like this. Is there a way to change the font? I am willing to reset the fonts if possible. Any help is appreciated.
Guest anon
Welcome to the board. I don't know the answer, but there is no need to login to KDE as root. Use the console /terminal and type su followed by your root password to move around. If you want a more graphical way of moving around your root folders, look in the "K" (start) menu for "File Manager --Super user mode"
NelsonN
I don't see this: "File Manager --Super user mode" I just decided to reinstall this thing and see if I can avoid most of the problems the second time around. Thanks for the help.
NelsonN
Another user at MandrakeClub found a solution to the Beast Wars font defaulting in the root user's Konqueror: /root/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc --or-- /[user folder]/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc -- post below posted by John at MandrakeClub --- The file appears to be this one: ~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc There is an entry in the [FMSettings] section called: StandardFont Mine was set to a Windows TrueType font I was using in MDK 9.1. Somehow the upgrade to 9.2 didn´t like this and used BeastWars instead. By changing it to StandardFont=Helvetica [or StandardFont=Sans or a font you know exists] and saving the file all appears to be ok. Hope this helps someone else. -John
