Missing man pages in 2009.1? [solved]

I just did a fresh install of 2009.1 One on my system and found that the man pages are incomplete.

Try: man cp

or: man ls

I get: 'No manual entry for cp'

and: 'No manual entry for ls'

Does anybody have a fix? I didn't find any man libraries that I could install.

Thanks,

radioz

I'm guessing about this, but if you installed from the One CD, the man pages may not have been included because of size constraints. So I would suggest you check it with

rpm -qa | egrep -i man-pages

if it's not installed, install them with

urpmi man-pages

as jkerr82508 has already noted.

Please read the wiki "Add and Remove Software" as coreutils-doc is available from Mandriva without searching pbone.net.

It shouldn't hurt in this case but the package you found is for 2010.0/cooker and your running 2009.1. Installing cooker packages on a stable release is a great way to break things.

Another alternative for the console (if anyone likes the console :) ):

urpmf --name coreutils

replace coreutils with coreutils-doc or whatever the package name is and it should list if it's in the repos that you have on your system.

It's in Main but you have to change the upper left button in the package manager from Packages with GUI to All in order to see it.
