Anyone using sylpheed-claws with clamav plugin?

I've installed the ClamAV RPM from Cooker and Sylpheed Claws from cooker along with the sylpheed-clamav-plugin and it seems to work with the test viruses I've tried (it saves them to a virus folder in Sylpheed like I want). The problem is that I edited /etc/clamav.conf to include a VirusEvent:

VirusEvent /bin/echo "VIRUS ALERT: %f: %v" > /home/omar/virus.log

When sylpheed uses clamd to scan the email, it doesn't trigger a VirusEvent to write that file, but if I do

clamdscan whatevervirusfile

it does trigger the creation of that file. What's up?
