Hi guys,

quick question. I'm running 2009.0 with KDE 4.2.1. In the updates a lot of the KDE files are labeled as 4.2.4. Does this mean it will update my KDE to 4.2.4?

As far as i can remember, i didn't see those in my 2009.1-updates.

But i am in the office now, so i have to check out later.

Maybe you are using some KDE-repositories?

4.2.4 isn't even in 2009.1 repos.

For some time 4.2.4 was only in cooker- not anymore though, as cooker has the KDE 4.3 pre-releases (which factly are almost done, and in any case more stable than 4.2.4).

So, I'm puzzled where did you get these 4.2.4 packages from...

KDE is being updated to 4.2.4 in both 2009.0 and 2009.1

The update for 2009.0 has already been released.

The one for 2009.1 will follow shortly.

...

This update is the KDE 4.2.4. And amarok 2.1.1 was included too.

For Mandriva 2009.1, KDE 4.2.4 and amarok 2.1.1 are already in "Testing" repositories. I think these versions will be available for Mandriva 2009.1 until this weekend (I hope).

Thank you everyone. I'm going away tomorrow night so I will tackle the update when I get home next week. When I upgraded to KDE4.2.1 from non-official repos I had a lot of dependency issues. So I'll make sure I have got time to sort it all out.

Thanks again all.

Well I've done the update. It seems to have gone well.

EXCEPT....Windows that are full screen have no window borders or title bars. When I disable compiz this does not occur. IE. when operating in 2d mode everything is ok.

Is there a work around for this?

I managed to find this command:

gtk-window-decorator --replace &

and I now have borders but they are large and clunky lol

EDIT: They also fail to show upon logging in again. The font was large and the minimise, and close buttons were huge. Any ideas?

Ok. so I found out it's a window decorator issue.

KDE4 window decorator would not work at all.

GTK did, but it was a gnome package, and was the reason for the large text in title bars.

So I installed emerald, and it works perfectly. Just the title bars are too transparent. Once I work out how to change that it will be fine.
