diehl
I am using Amarok 2.0.2 with KDE 4.2.2 with Mandriva 2009.1. I would like to play a single music file that is not in my collection. I used to do this as follows: Select Amarok->Play Media... and select a file and click OK. Now when I do this: ... nothing happens. Similarly Playlist->Add Media... add a file, and then ..nothing.. Now I can only play music which is in "my collection". Is this a bug or a feature? Am I missing something?
dexter11
For me Amarok doesn't play certain file formats like m4a (mp4) or wv (wavpack). What kind of file is that? Or you mean Amarok plays the same file in your collection but doesn't play it when it's not in your collection.
scarecrow
Amarok 2.0.2 was a pita... you should try to upgrade to 2.1.0 But other than that, Amarok is using the selected phonon backend, which can be xine, mplayer, or gstreamer. Which one are you using?
David Batson
If you are using Mandriva 2009.1 Powerpack edition, there is an update to the gstreamer-fluendo codec in the restricted repositories that fixes the issue of MP3's not playing in Amarok. If you add the restricted repositories, make sure they are the 2009.1 repositories. You may need to edit the URL (from 2009.0 to 2009.1) to the restricted repositories in Configure Media. If you are not using the Powerpack edition, install phonon-xine to be able to play MP3's in Amarok.
