Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that

the package is simply not installable and a bug report against

that package should be filed.

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:

kde: Depends: kdelibs3 but it is not going to be installed

Depends: libarts or

libarts-alsa but it is not going to be installed or

libarts-bin but it is not installable

Depends: libkmid or

libkmid-alsa but it is not going to be installed or

libkmid-bin but it is not installable

Depends: kdebase-audiolibs but it is not going to be installed or

kdebase3-audiolibs but it is not installable

Depends: kdebase-libs but it is not going to be installed or

kdebase3-libs but it is not installable

Depends: kdebase-doc but it is not going to be installed or

kdebase3-doc but it is not installable

Depends: kab but it is not going to be installed

Depends: kpm but it is not going to be installed

Depends: kfract but it is not going to be installed

Depends: koffice but it is not going to be installed

E: Sorry, broken packages

However also had a prob with libkde3

When I installed this seperately (whilst distracted) it REMOVED almost everything else from KDE.

Its on the XBOX

I did the kdebase.

It managed to find it in unstable.

My sources.list is a bit hacked around. Some of the stuff is compiled/packaged directly for the XBOX :D

Its really nice though and im slowly getting the hang of DEB. :D

Next project is the laptop which will have to be unstable becuase I want Wifi PCMCIA support :D

Apparently it invoves a kernel patch and then removing kernel PCMCIA and compiling as module.

Im a bit worried about breaking APT....

I keep seeming to screw up for one reason or another....

And Ive no printer for the documentation .... Ahhhhh I forgot to add ohci modules support for the Mandrkae 9.1 compile so now I need to go and add it. Kinda weird uhci and USB2 is working like a dream BUT no USB 1.1!!!

Im a bit worried once i have USB1.1 I will loose usb 2.0 :D

Still, thats a seperate thread!!!!

That's cool, I'm dropping gnome 2.4 on now from this site.

http://www.entrouvert.be/~fred/gnome-2.4/g....4-summary.html

deb http://people.debian.org/ ~fpeters/gnome2.4/

Don't know how well it will work, but will give it a try.

I think I'm going to move one of my Ultra 10's back over to Debian, Gentoo just takes WAY TO LONG to compile on it. I really don't get it either. 64Bit 440Mhz proc w/ 2MB cache and 512 RAM, I thought it was going to compile about the same as my xp-2000.

Erm,

Did you compile your cc with 64 bit ???

Just a suggestion....

The Ultra10 is a slightly bastardised machine as I remember.

Its not a FULL ULTRASPARC II its a IIa.

If I remember this means 1GB mem adrressing and a smaller cache!

Being serious, I can't see a 440Mhz U-II being as fast as a 1800 ish XP.

Bit Im curious so here goes :D

I can only find a U10-333mhz/512MB RAM entry.

it has

specint2000 = 133

specfp2000=126

AMD 2000+ (1667 Mhz-2x256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM CL2)

specint2000 = 697

specfp2000= 596

So adding your 25% 133->166 and 126->157

or 4x slower.

Looking at clock ratios 1667:440 = 3.7x

HOWEVER

This test was done with

# v8plusa (default) UltraSPARC-specific 32-bit binaries.

A E450 (1x480Mhz) gets 225/274.

Which x 440/480 -> 206/251 (if it ran at 440 not 480)

Thus suggesting the larger cache on the full ULTRASPARC II helps significantly.

Putting this in a moden context :D

2Ghz Opteron -> 1115/1217 (Suse)

Sun Fire 280R (1200 MHz) 637/945 (UltraSPARC III Cu on solaris 9 64 bit)

If I remember the Elite3dM3 was a rebadged ATI Rage 3D (32MB?)

So I can't see it being a ROCKET by any means :D

I also downloaded Netbsd 64 about a month ago and never installed it. Maybe I will do that, its either net or deb. Just not Gentoo and I have two other box's running Sol 9 so I don't need to put that on it.
