spinynorman
What would you do with a $40 Linux computer the size of a three-prong plug adapter? Marvell Technology Group is counting on an army of computer engineers and hackers to answer that question. It has created a “plug computer.†It’s a tiny plastic box that you plug into an electric outlet. There’s no display. But there is an Ethernet jack to connect to a home network and a U.S.B. socket for attaching a hard drive, camera or other device. Inside is a 1.2 gigahertz Marvell chip, called an application processor, running a version of the Linux operating system. More at the New York Times blog, and lots of suggestions in the comments... tux99
unfortunately it's not quite $40 yet, rather $99+shipping... If it was $40 I would have ordered one instantly.
ianw1974
Even $99 isn't too bad, but of course, the more they sell the more the price will drop closer to $40. We could help that happen :) Now, just need to figure out what to do with it when I get one :)
theYinYeti
I've had this one on my radar for several months (see my previous thread about a home server); I'd be quite happy with a 99$ price, but I'm waiting for the beast to have a French plug… Yves.
