Guest Leonie Delt
I've been using linux since 98 and Mandriva since 06, so i'm not a n00b. that said, something went wrong, oh so wrong, 3 separate installs of 2009.1 from 2009. I never 'upgrade', i always do a fresh install. I never wipe my home directory, i create the same user, same root password, etc. Just re-do the / partition with the new image. 3 separate times i gave it a go, and found it was so slow it was almost unusable, firefox, terminal, various windows would just lock and have to be kill -9 UIDed... VLC had no sound and kept locking up. there was something impossible about the broadcom 4306 wifi card, i could never ever get it to work, and whatever was going on, it made me regret, for the first time, ever being an early adopter. Will i continue to regret it if i try again? I'm back on 2009 with no problems whatsoever, not even with the broadcom card... sigh. anyone else with this trouble? i will check the drivers section and see what people are using / doing about the blasted broadcom ndiswrapper problem. but i dont honestly think that explains it all, it was acting like disk access was slowed down to a crawl, if nothing else. theYinYeti
Sad. No such experience. Although I have bugs, none is too important. Yves.
