Kieth
After my new Mandriva Spring install, I now have several kernels installed. Just wondering if I need to keep them all, change some, or even add any. I don't do anything "fancy" with my computer. I just write letters, listen to music, and "goof around" trying to pretend I know something. [kieth@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep kernel squashfs-lzma-kernel-desktop586-latest-3.3-1.20090421.10mdv2009.1 lzma-kernel-2.6.29.1-desktop586-4mnb-4.43-27mdv2009.1 kernel-desktop586-2.6.29.1-4mnb-1-1mnb2 kernel-firmware-extra-20090212-2mnb2 squashfs-lzma-kernel-3.3-10mdv2009.1 squashfs-lzma-kernel-2.6.29.1-desktop586-4mnb-3.3-10mdv2009.1 kernel-firmware-20090111-3mnb2 kernel-desktop586-latest-2.6.29.1-4mnb2 vboxadditions-kernel-2.6.29.1-desktop586-4mnb-2.2.0-4mdv2009.1 vboxadditions-kernel-desktop586-latest-2.2.0-1.20090422.4mdv2009.1 lzma-kernel-desktop586-latest-4.43-1.20090421.27mdv2009.1 [moved from Everything Linux by spinynorman]

AussieJohn
Apart from the kernel you have booted into, and assuming it is working as you desire, then there is no need for the remainder of them at all. They are just taking up disc space. They have zero connection to anything unless booted into so Use MCC and delete them all but take care not to uninstall the one you are booted into (MCC will stop you anyway). They all serve different requirements which are mostly more specialised but not needed for usual computer use. Cheers. John.
