speedball2
I'd suggest adding the Mandriva distribution medias using http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ Once that's done: urpmi.update -a followed by: urpmi --auto-select Hopefully that'll get the missing packages. I'm seriously thinking reinstall it but I don't want to lose configuration and install everything all over again give me a hand

I assume you write thses messages from the computer). in http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ there is an "Advaced" area in the bottom of the page, where you can choose the specific mirror to update from. I'm not sure it's going to help, but you may want to try it.

I just have command line available so I just can type those links.... what I did was 1. check the link... 2. select my version (2009.1) 3. arch (i586) 4. refresh commands 5. write it on a copybook (rechecking for mistakes) 6. reboot 7. failsafe then type su password 8. write a command (plf first) output cannot locate 'http://plf...' 9. tried the other one and the same happened....I checked the connection using ifconfig but nothing appears so I figured it could be connection problems...if so tell me how to config it please cuz I haven't done that...(yes I know I still being a noob :) ) I have never needed that so I went lazy Edited May 15, 2009 by demonseth17
demonseth17
I've been trying to do the upgrade but seems imposible but I found some messages while loading mandriva (runlevel 5)it says: WARNING! Loop detected network -> resolvconf does that mean some network issue? cuz I had everything configured before restarting the pc after the incomplete upgrade... any ideas? ianw1974
I hate the resolvconf package, it does nothing but cause problems with system usage. I removed it last time I saw it installed.
ilia_kr
I'm sorry for interrupting, but can someone summarize the steps for a proper system upgrade (with CD, DVD, whatever) so i will not have to reinstall? Maybe a link to a suitable resource...

I think it is a connection problem...but what can I do? Edited May 17, 2009 by demonseth17

I used the graphical online applet (the blue arrow in the notification zone) and it worked smoothly. In previous times I used the DVD and it should also work flawlessly, in case the internet connection you use is not reliable enough. Disclaimer: After upgrading I did have a problen running Compiz, because the graphical card I'm using does not support the new Xorg version. But unless you have intel graphical chipset and must have Compiz, things should work fine.
ilia_kr
I don't get the blue arrow that will enable upgrading, because when it asked me the first time if i want to - i said no and do not bother me any more... Can i get it back?
Greg2
Can i get it back? Try opening a terminal (or alt + f2) and enter mdkapplet. I can't check if that works because I did more than say no, I removed mine.
