Guest Ummi
Hi, Am trying my hand at installing mandriva on an external hard drive that I have spare So far it seems to work, but I cant get my head around its ongoing use. Because my bios does not allow me to boot to a usb device, I have booted from the live cd. In dolphin I see the external hd and its two partitions plus also the hard drives ubuntu and vista partitions. Am I correct in assuming that I am able to download any software to the external drive? Also if i configure the settings, browser, email, desktop, will they be lost at the end of the session when I remove the cd. To my mind the external hd is to be treated as a data drive, cos even though the os is installed it is not functional due to the bios. Many thanks
theYinYeti
Maybe you could use a boot floppy? Do you have a floppy drive? Yves.
