USB logitech cordless mouseman problem

Hi,

 

I am a complete noobie who has just installed Mandrake 9.1 :D

 

One problem that I have is that the mouse doesn't work, which is proving very frustrating as I am not very good with keyboard shortcuts! :(

 

Any suggestions?

 

Mouse is a Logitech USB Cordless Mouseman. I have tried pluging it into PS2 with adaptor and still no joy. I did get a message about mouse type changing on boot-up, but didn't get time to read it.

try plugging it in (ps2 or usb) and turning on the computer. You should get about 25 seconds at the new hardware found screen. Try launching the config tool. If you are unable to do so, wait for it to boot all the way and type mousedrake from a terminal (or Alt-F2 in KDE) and run the mouse config from there. See if that helps you out.

With the ps2 adapter I have to configure it as a standard ps2 mouse then edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and change the protocol to;

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

and add

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Option "Buttons" "5"

Option "Buttons" "5"

use to be a necessity but not anymore.....habit I guess.....I still put it in there. :roll:

Now my Logitech cordless mouseman optical works consistantly, my usb keyboard works at boot time, and my usb MMC card reader is recognized right away.

 

Hooray!! No more PS2 connectors!!!!

Thanks guys....I'll give this a try......although I think I may have a USB problem as none of my USB devices seem to be working or even recognised in Control Centre - (Speedtouch USB, Microsoft (sorry!) Joystick and the mouse).....watch this space!!!
