I agree 100% with Tux.

I have 3.0.8 installed and did so just by doing regular urpmi based updates via MCC. Why do things the hard way when simple and efficient methods are available ???.

I agree with tux99 and aussiejohn. No point in complicating things. Sometime you might have to wait a very short time for the package to appear in the repo, but that's normally not a problem if at all.

But this is only true if you have a version of Mandriva which is less than a year old or so correct? If you are using an older version of Mandriva and don't want to go through the hassle of updating, then downloading directly from mozilla.org is a good option.

Basically MDV 2008.1 will be end-of-support for desktop packages (which includes Firefox) in a few days, while base support will continue until October 15, 2009.
