chris z
now if i only knew enough to understand what that guy said...... :? actually, i sorta understand what he's talking about. unfortunately, i'm at work on a Win2K machine, so i can't play. :( thanks for that link, though. i'll have to reread that several more times when i'm home. my current MDK boot time is around 4 minutes, which has always aggravated me. i've disabled every start up service that is not absolutely necessary for my purposes, & that's the best boot time i can get. if i can even knock that in half, that's just one more incentive for me to give Window$ the boot! (pun intended  ) Chris
theYinYeti
I just realize my own technique is now lost for all but me, because of club-nihil disappearance. I'll try to post it here sometime soon... (I still have my club-nihil posts at home) Yves.
theYinYeti
I've read the article. It's excellent! Thanks for the link. I'll try and see if/how it combines with my technique, hopefully for an even better start-up time... Yves.
jlc
You could probably spend WEEKS in IBM's Linux Library. It is a very helpful site. http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/
Michel
thanks, great article....now I maybe now (quite decently) why my internetstarts up in parallel. Starting up my internetconnection doesn't really cost me more (noticable) time than not starting it up at all...

I know coz i get the daily digest James Actually NO, as crazy as this might sound. I NEVER go to slashdot, I just don't like them very much. For news I go to osnews, distrowatch, lwn.net and some others. I don't know why, but I just don't care to got to /. What's in the daily digest? Is it a daily e-mail w/up2date news? iphitus
That surprises me. Over the last few days you've posted 3 things that were on slashdot. Suppose they could have easily been found elsewhere AJems
