Hallo all!

I have some troubles with my wireless card on my laptop. The machine is quite old- 366 mhz pentium 2, 128 MB RAM, 6.5 GB HD, 4 MB video. On that hardware I have Mandriva 2009 installed, with GNOME, but I use IceWM and it works fine. I have Edimax Wireless USB adapter- recognized from the system as Ralink 802.11 bg WLAN /in MCC/Network connections/. I installed rt73-firmware from the mandriva mirrors. Everything seems ok -

[root@localhost ~]# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:2573 Ralink Technology, Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001
and
lsmod | grep usb
rt73usb 25472 0
rt2500usb 23040 0
rt2x00usb 13056 2 rt73usb,rt2500usb
rt2x00lib 29312 3 rt73usb,rt2500usb,rt2x00usb
mac80211 157212 2 rt2x00usb,rt2x00lib
usbcore 138096 11 cdc_wdm,cdc_acm,usb_storage,rt73usb,rt2500usb,rt2x00usb,isp1760,uhci_hcd,ohci_hc
d,ehci_hcd

by the way now cdc_wdm and cdc_acm are presented, because Im now connected via my cellphone and had to remove the wireless adapter- the laptop has only one USB port.

But it seems that the system is recognized the wireless properly. The problems start, when I start drakroam, and try to connect to some network- I get in list one-two unencripted. When I click Connect in drakroam window, in terminal /I typed drakroam in root terminal, to see the error/ I have that:

[root@localhost ~]# drakroam
Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/Net/DBus/Binding/Connection.pm line 257.

Then I fed off and kill drakroam. Can anyone of you to help me have my wireless working?

Thanks in advance.

p.p. The kernel is Linux localhost 2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb #1 SMP Thu Dec 11 16:45:35 EST 2008 i686 Celeron (Mendocino) GNU/Linux

OK, it seems noone can help..

In that case, can someone tell me a GUI program for using/managing wireless connections- in order to avoid using drakroam? For GPRS connection via cellular phone I use a progam called gprsec /GPRS Easy Connect/ and it works great. Does anyone knows a similar GUI program for using wireless adapter?

Thanks

btw KDE-programs are not good fo my old laptop, I have no KDE, only GNOME and IceWM

Solved, wifi-radar works fine

Great!

How did you integrate it?

Was it solved just by installing wifi-radar?

Thanks in advance.
