Guest tweety
Hi! I have a big problem with my screen. I would like to have 'big desktop' but I have monitors with different resolutions. My graphics card is ATI X1300 pro Monitors: Samsung 1280x1024 + LG 1440x900 Kernel is 2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb I have installed: fglrx-control-center-8.522-3mdv2009.0.x86_64 fglrx-kernel-2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb-8.522-3mdv2009.0.x86_64 fglrx-kernel-desktop-latest-8.522-1.20081219.3mdv2009.0.x86_64 x11-driver-video-fglrx-8.522-3mdv2009.0.x86_64 When I run XFdrake I can choose either the first or the second one monitor but not the both of them. When I run ATI Catalyst Control Center, I can choose the Big Desktop but it seems as it supports only the same resolution for both monitors so once I got 2880x900 and now 2048x768 (i do not why there is not the 2560x1024 option). Anyway I try to change the xorg.conf file all the time and I can get also the single display or the mirrors or once I got the one display with right resolution and the other was dark but you could get there with the mouse pointer which had changed to cross pointer. ??? And sometimes I am not able to boot to gui at all :) Thanks for help
SilverSurfer60
Welcome to MUB Sorry to inform you that separate displays are not yet supported by KDE4 at the moment. Hopefully they will be soon.
Guest Atavist
Sorry to inform you that separate displays are not yet supported by KDE4 at the moment. Then I must be doing something wrong. Running Mandriva One 2009.0 with KDE4 and using an ATI Radeon HD 3450, my primary monitor is a 1680x1050 LCD and my secondary monitor a 1024x768 LCD, configured with the ATI Catalyst Control Center, and it works just fine (after some trial-and-error, that is). SilverSurfer60
The last time I looked at the kde site/forums it was mentioned that multiple display was not supported in kde4.1 so I dunno how you managed it. Well done. Mind you I am using a NVIDIA card.
