Guest Tux234
Ok, i will totally switch to gnome if I can gdesklets to work. When I try to install it it says that it needs gdesklets-display. Shouldn't that be in the source file already? And if possible is there a link to a RPM that anybody knows of? Steve Scrimpshire
The only thing I could find is this: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p...esklets-display which shows you various different packages to try. I don't know which one you need, though.
shoegoo
Anyone know if gDesklets will be included in 9.2?
jlc
Funny, I came to software to post a question about gdesklets and BOOM it's here tonight. :D Instead of makeing another thread I will stay here. My question is when I have them installed, ALL the "themes" open up in one place and I don't seem to be able to move them. I'm wondering if I should just edit the <name>.display file or is there some other trick? Tyme, I know you have used them before, what's the scoop? liquidzoo
Ok, I searched their page and the gnomesupport forums and I can't find an answer to this so I'll ask here. When I try to start gdesklets, I get the following error: Error loading target html init class factory.DisplayFactory.DisplayFactory init class factory.SensorFactory.SensorFactory init class config.ConfigManager.ConfigManager Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/gdesklets", line 25, in ? starter.start_displays() File "/usr/local/share/gdesklets/main/Starter.py", line 180, in start_displays self.__on_watch(None, displays) File "/usr/local/share/gdesklets/main/Starter.py", line 78, in __on_watch self.__update_display_set(value) File "/usr/local/share/gdesklets/main/Starter.py", line 94, in __update_display_set dsp = self.__create_display(id, path) File "/usr/local/share/gdesklets/main/Starter.py", line 120, in __create_display data = fd.read() IOError: [Errno 21] Is a directory I saw someone who said that this can be cleared up by using a login manager (KDM, GDM, XDM) but I use fluxbox and I don't know how to start it from there, plus I really don't want graphical login if I can avoid it. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried everything I can think of including looking at the source code for clues, but I can't find anything. liquidzoo
Ok, I got this fixed so I will share how I did it. Open a terminal and run gconf-editor Go to apps -> gDesklets -> Main and edit the default key Scroll through and make sure everything is pointing to a .display file and not a folder. The keys each start with a number and end with a comma. Make sure if you have to delete something to delete the whole key. Alternately, you could delete all the entries in the default key and start over. Hope this helps someone.

jlc
i've downloaded some displays but it still says that i need gdesklets-display :banghead: Let's start from scratch, when you say in your first post from the "source" did you use: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p...=mandrake&arch= This src.rpm? #rpmbuild --rebuild gdesklets-0.21.1-1mdk.src.rpm # rpm -ivh /path/to/rpm/<filename> http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/cooker/contr...1-1mdk.src.html Then download the gdesklets-display's from: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p...=mandrake&arch= #rpm -ivh <filename> Did you do all that :?:
Guest Tux234
Allright now I have another prob  When I try to rpmrebuild the RPM it says I need gtk2-devel where can I find a RPM for gtk2.2.0.
jlc
Check out the link I previously posted. http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/cooker/contr...1-1mdk.src.html scroll down scroll down STOP, Requires * pygtk2.0-devel * gnome-python * gtk2-devel Now, click on it. You could also try, I'm not in front of a mdk box right now, but try: #urpmi gtk2-devel & see what the output is. :P
