New to Mandriva ... I installed 2009 and all works fine....BUT I messed up and Removed Firefox Web browser .... How do I get it back from the

installation CD .... Or can Mandriva somehow be reinstalled ? .... When I boot from the CD to try a reinstall it just loads the system from the CD

and everything work fine including Firefox, but it's all off the CD ... I then reboot from my harddrive and Firefox is gone again.

HELP HELP a new person, so need as much detail as possible

Thanks

John

welcome to mub :D,

boot your regular install and open the mandriva control panel and go to sofware management and select install/remove software (or something similar to that) and install firefox

also read our wiki for some info on how (and how not) to install software in mandriva:

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did play around with Software Management it install/or reinstall...And the Firefox or any Webbrowser does not

show up as available to install ? There is nothing under the "Not installed" tab and does not show under the installed

tab either ?

Thanks

John

Repositories are servers around the internet which distribute software for mandriva (called packages or RPM's for short). The control center software program displays all software that is in the repositories you have enabled (which can mean zero). Suggest you follow the Easy URPMI link on this site's home page (link) and go with the defaults. Accept the files that are downloaded to your PC (you will need to enter your root (Administrator/system manager) password to get these repositories added. Then go back to software mgmt and see what's there.
