Plugging in usb device freezes system.

I cleared out the logs to make it easier to find whatever my gps problem was, and then plugged in my Garmin 305 and guess what -- no problem. (The old Heisenberg issue attacks again.) Namely, when you go to look at the problem, the problem disappears. Sigh..... Anyway.

# modinfo garmin_gps

filename: /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/garmin_gps.ko.gz

license: GPL

description: garmin gps driver

depends: usbserial,usbcore

vermagic: 2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb SMP mod_unload 686

parm: debug:Debug enabled or not (bool)

parm: initial_mode:Initial mode (int)

lsmod | grep gar

garmin_gps 20740 0

usbserial 33768 1 garmin_gps

agpgart 32840 2 nvidia,amd64_agp

usbcore 138096 12 garmin_gps,usbserial,usb_storage,usbhid,snd_usb_audio,snd_usb_lib,uvcvideo,isp17

60,uhci_hcd,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd

Both of these commands were run after the Garmin had been disconnected.

By the way, I also plugged in my digital camera and could not find it anywhere such that I could transfer pics to/from it. It is getting too late for me to research that further.
