Guest arise
Howdy, i compiled vanilla 2.4.21 last night, enabled SMP for my P4 HT Cpu, some Philips USB camera drivers as well, etc...the only problems that i now have are: - eth0 cannot be loaded at boot (8139too module) - Audigy2 doesn't work anymore (default kernel loaded an "audigy2" module at boot, now i have emu10k1 enabled as a built-in module) - MX500 USB mouse doesn't work in X (i set it up as usb/wheel as before but still no go). I would appreciate any help, thanks :) PS - I heard only good stuff about 2.6 test1, did anyone try it out on MD 9.1 yet?
Cannonfodder
If you saved your original kernel config file for Mandrake, maybe you can do some comparision shopping to see what is on/off... I haven't tried it but its an idea.. is it just a text file?
Guest arise
Umm, i didn't save any config file :) Somehow i need to get my modules conf sorted out, you know...alias devices and stuff...i'm clueless
bvc
If you still have the default, or any mdk kernel source, you'll find a /usr/src/kernel<version>/arch/i386/defconfig. Rname it to your current kernel-source as .config after you make mrproper, and start over. Audigy2 doesn't work anymore (default kernel loaded an "audigy2" module at boot, now i have emu10k1 enabled as a built-in module)As in 'Y', as in 'in the kernel'? Doing that with sound drivers has never worked for me. I'm sure I was missing something obvious but I d/k what. modules.conf? You should have a bkup (.bak or ~) in /etc.
