daniewicz
If you run /usr/bin/nvidia-settings do you get the NVidia display settings gui?
xboxboy
Yes I can run nvidia settings
daniewicz
Then you are running the nvidia driver!
ianw1974
Ian, I think it might help to actually say how to do the glxgears test rather than just refer to it. You're right, I totally forgot to include that in the post! Such simple things I'm forgetting. Must be my age :D Previous post it was ran in, but just for reference in case anyone comes across this post, when you open the command prompt, type: glxgears and let it run and see the output. As xboxboy's post shows, its working fine :)
AussieJohn
Thanks Ian. I just tried and it just gives me .....command not found. Note I am using Nvidia's proprietary driver only not the Mandriva one. Would that be why there is no response to the gxlgears. test ???. Cheers. John. Greg2
glxinfo and glxgears are in the mesa-demos package. They are not installed by default. :)
AussieJohn
Thanks for that Greg. :D Cheers. ianw1974
Yeah, that looks good to me. My six year old nvidia kicks out about 4000fps or so, but then glxgears isn't a good measure, but if you had about 1000fps then it would be bad. xboxboy
Thanks guys. Aussie John that card is punching out way more than mine!!! Ok so I have the Nvidia driver, so why do I not have the NVIDIA logo upon start?
AussieJohn
I am not sure about the Logo. I find that out of ever 10 reboots that the Logo doesn't appear 3 or 4 times, or doesn't seem to. I have always put that down to the very short duration that the Logo is set to and perhaps can't be seen but is still really there. I have tended to not worry about it although, like you , I do get a kick out of seeing it. :D Cheers. John.
Greg2
This is just a FYI- I've used 177.70 and upgraded to 177.80, and I've yet to see that logo using 2009.0. :)
