here's the thing

 

my windows failed to start

i boot my laptop using the mandriva live cd,

 

i can see both my internal drives c:/ & d:/

 

i want to retrieve my files

 

i can access c but i cant access d

 

im trying to mount d:/ with this terminal: mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/d:/

then it says i must specify filesytem

my friend says a filessystem is something like fat32/nstc

 

i dont know what to do

 

please help

You can safely try and mount any device. Chances are it will work provided there is a filesystem on it. You usually don't need to tell which filesystem it is.

 

Anyway, the easiest method may be for you to open Mandriva Control Center, Local disks section, and choose Manage your hard disk partitions. This excellent tool will give you the option to graphically mount partitions, and choose graphically the filesystem if needed.
