Guest tomb
Today is a wonderful day. I finally got everthing configured so I can read AND write to my remote shares on our company's NT domain controlled LAN. Now I'm worried! I have read in numerous places that I should not write to NTFS shares, and under 8.2 I don't remember being able to do so. But today I was able to write with impunity, and read the files on my win XP box. Am I risking disaster or has 9.0 managed to make this an acceptable practice? If it's an OK thing to do, my next step is to see if our corporate contact manager (Goldmine) which runs from an NTFS share can run under WINE. If so the win box moves off the desk for good. Cannonfodder
Are you accessing your NTFS shares through samba? If so, you are ok. The problem is attempting to mount local NTFS partitions on your drive with read/write access. But if you are doing it over a network, its different.. Guest tomb
Many thanks! I'm using Samba so it looks like I'm OK.
