Editing a file in su mode

If you really need a GUI file manager, then dolphin is adequate for all that you need to do in root mode. "kdesu dolphin" will launch it in root mode, provided that you've made kdesu available, as described in an earlier post.

 

Another alternative is krusader. If you install that, it sets up a menu entry for root mode, but beware of this bug:
