Linux not detecting my modem

I can't find pciutils on my hard drive. COuld you tell me how to installt it?

 

The file proc/pci is an emptytext file.

Open a ternimal>su to root>urpmi pciutils

 

It is highly unlikely that it is not installed. Every distro installs it by default.

I have done that and it works. I also got the 1spci -vv to work. I was using I instead of 1. What's next.

1spci produces nothing.

 

I do not see a modem listed. So either the kernel does not detect it as a pci device, and you are out of luck, or it's a pcmcia modem maybe? If it's internal is not usb, so....I d/k.
