Guest larsplus
Hello everybody! I have just completely formated my pc and reinstalled mandriva 2008 spring. Before that, sound worked fine; now, multimedia applications behave as if sound was working, but I cannot hear anything. I have checked KMix, everything looks fine. Also, the correct driver appears to be selected (ALSA „snd_intel8x0“). PulseAudio and automatic routing from ALSA to PulseAudio are enabled (is that correct?) When I open kcontrol and play with the Sound-System settings, upon applying changes I get the following error message: upon applying changes Error while initializing the sound driver: device: default can't be opened for playback (Connection refused) The sound server will continue, using the null output device. Afterwards, amarok raises an error "xine could not initialize audio driver" and refuses to play music completely. Upon reboot, things are as they were at the very beginning. Thanks for your help! arctic
Welcome aboard. Is it perhaps somehow related to this? https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=69924&hl=
Guest larsplus
Thanks. When I booted this morning, sound was working again. Linux is so strange!
adamw
Sounds like Pulse failed to start up for some reason.
