David Batson
I went to the Main page and clicked on Help, which brought me to the support page. And what is listed is the Release notes and Errata for 2008! http://www.mandriva.com/ >>> http://www.mandriva.com/en/support/getting-help

tyme
Wow, an errata entry that is specific to a single location? Interesting... Edited October 16, 2008 by tyme
neddie
How about, wow, I'm glad I didn't upgrade before that metric boatload of issues got resolved! :o How come the errata list is already so huge, even after just a few days? Didn't the alphas / betas / RCs catch them?
tyme
There certainly is one big culprit in there: 9.8 Compiz and Metisse do not work in KDE 4 if started via startx... 9.10 Extended keys (multimedia keys) not supported in KDE 4 9.11 KDE 4 panel displays graphical corruption when running GTK+-based applications 9.12 KDE 4 cannot play many video formats as installed 9.13 KDE 4 applications cannot play audio CDs (digital mode) 9.14 KDE 4 does not suspend when laptop lid is closed 9.15 Bogus error message when entering an incorrect password to log in or unlock a KDE 4 session 9.16 KDE 4 applications cannot run as root via su/ Of course, it could be simply be that they're doing a better job of finding, reporting, and resolving the errata than in previous versions...(optimists view, right? ;) ) Edited October 16, 2008 by tyme

adamw
tyme: the Errata is almost entirely written by...me. :P It's kind of a mixture, to be honest. I was fairly slack with doing the 2008 and 2008 Spring Errata; they could have a few more entries each if I really worked on it. But this was mostly because they were both pretty stable releases that I got lazy about the Errata. 2009 I'm being more active on the Errata, but this is partly because it isn't quite such a high-quality release. The KDE 4 bit could also be billed as 'Things Adam Noticed Within 2 Minutes Of Starting KDE 4 In The Release ISO'. Wish I'd bothered to test it in Beta 2 or something. Serves me right for being a GNOME user.
