Welcome Mandriva 2009. I just downloaded the final dvd-iso (found a mirror that had it prematurely available for download. :P), gave it a look already and - it rocks! B)

Final release is here? Maybe now I can switch mirrors from cooker to 2009.0.

I think it was a bit premature to release now, there's still some bugs outstanding. Especially if you have your screensaver password protected in Gnome. You can't unlock and you have to kill gnome-screensaver to get back in from a console. Also, CTRL-ALT-F1 or similar won't work because the keyboard is locked and only an ALT-SYSRQ-R will free it to be able to get you to the console to do this anyway!

Am still trying to find the official release notes too. Some of my packages have just been updated to 2009.1 :)

Ah... the website is being reuploaded with the new info. Only a few more minutes.... :)

Haven't seen the official release notes anywhere on the net yet, but just wait a couple of minutes. ;)

PS: It is there... but only on the french site till now. http://www.mandriva.com/fr/produit/mandriva-linux-one

I have some reservations about 2009.0, I think the gnome and xfce versions are very good but kde4 (and kde3)

anf getting 2009.1 updates...not good at  all....

Just be ware/be aware,

http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?t=95606

it seems that letting 2009 automatically set up your sources/mirrors, it may be setting them up for cooker (2009.1) instead of 2009.0, which may not worry those who are comfortable with cooker, but others may not be so comfortable, and taken by surprise.

This is also applying to those installing from the official media, it seems.

I changed my mirrors from cooker to 2009.0 using the manual page of easyurpmi but editing 2008.1 from the advanced option to copy and paste the text. And can confirm, that the 2009.1 packages exist for the ones I have installed. Now, since mandriva-release-common has been updated, you cannot use auto-detect anymore on the easyurpmi page, because it now thinks my version is 2009.1 and not 2009.0!

Weird but not good!

And:

urpmq --list-url

shows them as devel and cooker urls still! :o

Who uses KDE? :P Just kidding.

Haven't noticed that yet. Thanks for the info.

They're still using devel repos even in the releases. Someone buggered up the release! All that work they put in to making it a faster release, they've now borked the updates so you end up with cooker from the official release CD. Bad, bad bad. Even after I added 2009.0 manually, I get the devel repos. It's shocking.

Here's how I was trying it, but don't have all repos - mainly plf. Anyway, here was my script:

[root@esprit ian]# cat urpmi_2009

which should work in essence. The urpmq --list-url:

clearly still showing devel. Maybe it's just the repos that are pointing to devel and not being updated correctly to reflect the official release. My updated packages from this morning:

[root@esprit ian]# rpm -qa | grep -i mdv2009.1
drakx-kbd-mouse-x11-0.64-2mdv2009.1
mandriva-release-common-2009.1-0.1mdv2009.1
drakxtools-backend-11.67-4mdv2009.1
mandriva-release-Free-2009.1-0.1mdv2009.1
drakxtools-curses-11.67-4mdv2009.1
harddrake-11.67-4mdv2009.1
harddrake-ui-11.67-4mdv2009.1
drakxtools-11.67-4mdv2009.1

although saying that:

[root@esprit ian]# rpm -qa | grep -i mdv2008
soundwrapper-1.6-1mdv2008.1
lib64dvdread3-0.9.7-7mdv2008.1
perl-Gtk2-Notify-0.04-2mdv2008.1
lib64magick10.7.0-6.3.2.9-10mdv2008.0
pyxdg-0.15-5mdv2008.1
x11-driver-video-ati-6.9.0-2mdv2008.1
lib64icu38-3.8.1-2mdv2008.1

there's still 2008.1 packages in there too :). This isn't so bad, but the 2009.1 ones are, since now with the packages that got updated, my release is now 2009.1 and not 2009.0

apperantly it's a server side error but still the people that downloaded, installed and updated are screwed

I'm wondering if there is a way to force downgrade the rpm. Have been checking man page for urpmi, but not found it yet. Maybe I need to find a mirror with the old packages and use rpm to do it.
