Clitheroe
Don't seem to have CUPS on my Mandriva 2008 box. Tried to install it via software management but get errror message saying: " Cant install CUPS Printing System". Here's the console output whilst I was checking to get CUPS installed: david@localhost ~]$ su Password: [root@localhost david]# rpm -qa | grep cups libcups2-1.3.6-1.2mdv2008.0 libgnomecups-0.2.2-4mdv2008.0 libgnomecups-1.0_1-0.2.2-4mdv2008.0 cups-devel-1.0.4-1 [root@localhost david]# urpmi cups A requested package cannot be installed: cups-common-1.3.6-1.2mdv2008.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied libslp.so.1) Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) Any ideas, Thanks, David.
Greg2
A requested package cannot be installed:cups-common-1.3.6-1.2mdv2008.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied libslp.so.1) You need libopenslp1. Please post the output of rpm -qa | grep libopenslp1 If it's not listed, you may need to reconfigure (or update) your software sources. Thanks, David.
scarecrow
I don't think there is any chance to make it work. Most Lexmark printers, including that one, have absolutely no support for Linux- even from commercial drivers, like Turboprint. You can surely *see* the printer (lsusb in a root console), but it's highly unlikely that you'll make it work, or someone will ever bother issuing a ppd for it. If you cannot dispose it and replace it by a supported printer, then simply use it via windoze/VirtualBox.
scarecrow
Just to add here that the Gutenprint 5.2.X series have added support for a big bunch of new printers, including several Lexmark ones, but sadly enough the above is not one of them.
