boatman9
I am still using 2008.0 and have had difficulty connecting to my WiFi router using WPA and my Orinoco Gold WiFi card. I read somewhere that the issue was not fixed in 2008.1, so I didn't upgrade. Does anyone know if we will be able to configure WPA and WPA2 encryption easily in 2009.0? Phil Edwards
Not if you're going to continue using the Orinoco card. :-( The orinoco_cs driver has no WPA/WPA2 support at all - it's quite an old card now (I have one at home that is effectively useless to me) and it's unlikely that anyone is going to want to rewrite the driver just for WPA. I'd suggest that your best option would be to get a newer card - a search on here should turn up some posts showing which cards people have had success with. I've got a Dell Latitude D830 laptop which came with a Broadcom internal wireless card with non-existent Linux support. I bought a pair of Intel 3945ABG cards from e-bay and fitted one of those instead. Job done.
boatman9
Why not use ndiswrapper and the Windows XP driver to get WPA? I will get a newer PCMCIA WiFi card when I learn which make/model is Linux-compatible and has an external antenna connector. Anyone want to suggest a make/model for me? ianw1974
Intel ipw cards are great, especially the ipw3945 which I've had in many machines now without any problems.

ianw1974
It could be possible, I was just checking google for results. As to where to buy it, you'll have to search and see if any of your preferred suppliers have one.
