I think there may be some problems with your disks.

 

do they just have one file, that ends in .iso, on them? if so, that's not what you want. when you go to burn them you need to find the option for "burn from image" or the like. use that. and i suggest a reinstall, as all those failed messages before login indicate possible problems with the original install.

i knew i smelled the stench of a bad install!

and we aren't computer genuises, just people with way too much time on our hands ;-)

Did you burn the ISO's to a cd as an iso file, or did you burn them as a disk image? ISO is a special type of file - check the first cd to see if it has a bunch of files and directories on it or just one big iso file. It should have all the little files and folders.
