tyme
reference: http://pclinuxonline.com/modules.php?name=...rticle&sid=7314 looks like Mandrake has made some 2.6 RPMs that have been showing up in contrib. I haven't been able to verify this on my favorite local mirror, anyone want to take a peak?

tyme
I can't check that server from work, FTP connections aren't permitted. Otherwise I could have verified it :)

Guest boonders
I still don't have 2.6 kernel or source in my contrib mirror, anybody know what is going on? And i've heard they cut alot of features from 2.6 test that is why it is so small.
tyme
it's not the regular contrib, it's actually the cooker contrib. my fault :-?
jlc
I don't know if it matters, but do they have a new mod-utils package too? I know in :slackware: you have to upgrade if you want to play around with 2.5/2.6.
bvc
I don't know if it matters, but do they have a new mod-utils package too? They better or it won't work

SoulSe
Might try this! Reckon it'll fubar my system? James Yeah, what's the best way to do this? # rpm -Uvh kernel.rpm :?: :P
jlc
I would do rpm -ivh <.rpm> i = install <best option for kernel's> U = update your old kernel to the new one. If you "install", you will have both so if 2.6 doesn't work, you have something to fall back on.
iphitus
What changes would i need to make in lilo.conf or if i do install would it do it for me? Just change the path to the kernel? James
jlc
I don't use RPMS, but I think it would put it into the kernel, BUT I would certianly view /etc/lilo.conf & verify.
