Gowator
OK, I need a idiot proof WYSIWIG type web creation in linux. Ive tried Bluefish and quanta but they are to advanced for the people i need to use them. The closest is Mozilla composer .... which is sad., The people I need to use it are translaters and my bar manager so it shouldn't be too technical. aRTee
Whatabout OOo? It exports fine to .html, the (code) output is quite readable. And the result is fine.
Gowator
Actually thats what Im using right now. Its a bit heavy on the old Celeron 566 but I set up shortcuts to the files they edit direct in /var/www/html... Also, I might not be using it right but it gets terribly confused over relative and absolute addresses.

fuzzylizard
How about downloading a trial of Macromedia's Contribute and seeing if you can get it working using wine or crossover office? Just, from the sounds of it, it is the perfect program for your needs. You are most likely not going to find anything to your liking on Linux. iphitus
I use blufish myself and whenever i need to do WYSIWYG i use Mozilla. I like it because it doesn't mutilate any code i've written myself. Try the newer OOo1.1rc2. I'm on a PII300mhz and OOo1.1rc1 runs reasonably. I posted a post here about rc2 that everyone seemed to ignore, http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=6731 There is a french mirror listed in my post. Gowator
I don't mind paying ... if I get a good product but I really don't wanna use ANY M$ stuff, even Wine'ed if I can really help it .... OO seems to screw with my coding and mix up the rel/abs links but I might not be using it correctly. What I wanted was for them to be able to edit the pages, maybe stick photo's from live music we have and make translations ... Ill check a couple out... Just a guess, The IBM is likely to be heavyweight, have a 'funny interface' but be stable ... :D

Gowator
Just got down to Amaya download this morning before work. Downloaded source rpm so ill try it when I get home. Next question. Anyone know any good linux software for cleaning broken links and preferably re-usintg graphics/cleaning html. I have a whole load of M$ generated pages i need to clean and its taking forever in wordpad at work. Lots of the links get but in as abolute file ref's etc. and word insists on creating the xxxfiles directory beneach each page. The speed of loading is important because the page is used worldwide and some of our offices have pretty crappy connections. rcxau/OOrc2. Yeah I sould try it but theres always something new. Although broken links? you might find something here. http://linux.tucows.com/html_editors_default.html And wait a sec, there is a WYSIWYG program i used for a while that i forgot. SCREEM. www.screem.org Have fun with the HTML James

ramfree17
once i encountered a tiny program that cleans up the non-standard stuff that is essential to microsoft's html standard. i forgot the name but its something like destupidify or something. sorry, i lack artistic skills and am no web-designer so i have not used those kind of utilities so i cant remember the name fully (tidy i have since i mucked with some xml stuff). ciao!
